International oil companies only produce 10% of the world’s oil - the rest is produced by companies, which operate in countries with much lower standards.

Recent research shows that the divestment movement could potentially reduce the flow of money to the world’s international oil companies (IOC’s). However, IOC’s only produce 10% of the world’s oil - the rest is produced by national oil companies, which operate in countries with much lower environmental and ethical standards, and do not face the same pressure from shareholders.
